Dear Friends,
Time is short. The Greek Supreme Court case on the Golf Resort development at Cavo Sidero / Itanos is coming up on Friday March 14th. So please, those of you who are willing contact your Greek Representative or Greek Ambassador and the Greek Ministry of the Environment. Contact information for the Embassies and the Ministry are provided below, along with links to articles in The Guardian, NY Times and the Cavo Sidero Development Website.
Please pass this on to whoever you think would be interested.

Here is a possible letter/email you could send:

Dear Sir/Madam,
I strongly object to the proposed development at Cavo Sidero by Minoan Group, a subsidiary of UK-based Loyardward, in collaboration with the Abbot of Toplou monastery. This is a declared Natura 2000 area of unique environmental and cultural significance on Crete and should not be turned into a golfing resort. It is home to the nearly unique palm oasis at Vai, a number of endemic plants, and significant archaeological remains, all of which will be irreparably damaged by such a development.
Furthermore, the northeast corner of Crete already struggles with annual water shortages making the construction of thirsty golf courses and rooms for 7000 thirsty people absurd. The proposed desalinization plant will do further damage by covering a great area of land with solar collectors or by demanding a large supply of energy, which is scarce in Crete. The disposal of the mineral refuse from the plant (salt, etc.) will result in significant pollution.
Please reconsider your support for this project.
Sincerely,
YOUR NAME
